797GB Otztaler Sakiya

Kiya, born in 2010, is the esteemed head mare of the Otztaler herd. She descends from a remarkable lineage, with her mother, Oxnead Saffron, sired by the influential stallion GB29 Alpine, who transformed the breed in the UK during the 1990's and into the current millenium. Kiya's father, the highly sought-after liz 312/T Anthony, further enriches her pedigree, making her a fabulolus mare to have in the herd.

Kiya made history as the first Haflinger bred through artificial insemination (AI) in the UK, paving the way for future breeding. Her legacy continues as we champion the use of AI, allowing us to diversify our breeding lines effectively. Thanks to this approach, we're thrilled to welcome some exciting youngstock into the GB lines, enhancing the quality and variety of our breed.

Kiya has truly shone in the show ring, achieving remarkable success in Haflinger classes at prestigious events like Royal Windsor and Royal Three Counties. Our participation at the Haflinger National Show has also been noteworthy, showcasing her talent both in hand and under saddle on several occasions. Her consistent performance highlights her exceptional abilities and dedication to the breed.

Kiya, one of our beloved ridden horses, has not been extensively bred. However, she has blessed us with a foal, the striking Otztaler Amarone, born in 2021.

Kiya's ridden career is set to make a return in 2026, and we looking forward to seeing her back on the show circuit.  After a fabulous year in 2024, where she shone in World and Foreign Breed showing here in the North East, we are hopeful that she can resume her showing and dressage competitions
